The Regional Employer Support Network will feature a presentation entitled “High Performance Working Relationships – for Leaders, Managers and Supervisors” from 9 a.m. to noon May 3 at the Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation, located at 3801 Bemidji Avenue North.

The fee for attending this quarterly session is $50 and includes refreshments. Early registration is encouraged and the registration deadline is April 26. Registration forms are available online at www.cri-bsu.org or by calling the CRI at 218-755-4900; toll free, 888-738-3224.

The presentation will focus on the dynamic processes one can use to create influential relationships with staff members and coworkers. Participants will receive handouts summarizing the material presented along with additional reading references.

Presenting will be Jack Velzen, a leadership and management consultant and trainer from Grand Rapids. He is the owner and president of  Performance Resources, has more than 15 years experience in business, organizational development and management and has developed and implemented a Managerial Development Curriculum focused on leadership, coaching and performance management processes and skills.

“Most of us spend one third to half of our waking life at work,” said Velzen. “It’s most satisfying when we enjoy going to work, feeling valued there and making a genuine contribution.”

The Regional Employer Support Network was formed after employers in the region expressed the need for a network of professionals involved in human resources development and management. It meets the first Thursday of each month, with regular sessions lasting two hours and quarterly sessions lasting longer.  The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about the featured topic.

CRI staff members help facilitate RESN activities, and organizations collaborating to support the group include North Country Health Services, North Country Business Products, Potlatch, Bi-CAP, White Earth Reservation Tribal Council and Johanneson, Inc.

The CRI is an off-campus facility operated by Bemidji State University designed to increase collaboration between the University, business and industry and other sectors of the region. The CRI was formed to focus efforts on training, education and entrepreneurial needs of the region.
