Contact Information
I am on the road or away from the office a considerable amount of time. The easiest way to contact me is via e-mail at mwellcome@bemidjistate.edu.  If I receive the e-mail during the normal work week, I will typically respond within 24 hours.  If I receive the e-mail on the weekend, chances are I will not respond until the following Monday.  When using e-mail, make sure you include ONLINE PM in the subject line.

Class Schedule:
You will have a total of six (6) weeks to complete the course including posting and responding to discussion questions, all written assignments and the final project.  All written assignments will be submitted electronically.

Course Expectations:

Participate in the Discussion Forum. This is a requirement to answer ALL questions posted in the class room.  A major part of this program is learning from other professionals.  Participation in the discussion forum and interacting with fellow students increases the value of this course exponentially.  You are encouraged to share your knowledge and experience throughout the program.

Students will be granted access to the course content one week at a time.  It is expected that students complete all assigned work by Monday of the week following the week in which the work was assigned.  Failure to post assignments on a timely basis will result in access not being granted to future weeks and therefore failure to complete the certificate program.

Course Requirements:

This course is developed using the principles of applied learning in which the outcome of the course is something tangible the student can immediately apply.  The discussion topics in each week build on the previous week culminating in the development of a project plan.  The final outcome for the student is a completed project plan that may be implemented.  The student must select a project during the first week of the class.  The selected project must fall into one of the below categories:

  • Develop a comprehensive project management plan for an upcoming project at work

  • Develop a project management plan for a personal project

It is important to select your final project at the end of week one. This is a much abbreviated, fast paced course. If you wait to select your project, chances are you will not complete the requirements of the course.  The instructor will review your project selection after the first week to clarify and approve the selected project.

As discussed, the course is designed to build upon the materials discussed in previous weeks.  This can not be stressed enough -- it is highly recommended that you identify the topic of your final project by the end of the first week. This schedule will keep you on track for finishing the project by the end of the 6th week.  Your instructor will provide feedback on your final project within two weeks of course completion.

A Project Management Plan template is provided in the appendix of this syllabus.
THIS IS THE TEMPLATE THAT WILL BE USED TO SUBMIT YOUR FINAL PROJECT. READ THE APPENDIX CAREFULLY TO MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FINAL PROJECT.

This is a non-credit course. Three (3.0) Continuing Educations Units (CEU) will be awarded to students completing ALL requirements outlined in the course syllabus.
