Real Estate Sales Pre-Licensure Courses Offered
Real Estate is a dynamic industry – that offers flexible job opportunities for energetic individuals with good people skills. To become a licensed real estate person in Minnesota, you must complete 90 hours of pre-licensure training – Real Estate I, II and III. You must also successfully pass the Real Estate Licensure exam. After completing 90 hours of classroom instruction and passing the exam, you can apply for the Real Estate Salesperson License with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Academy of Lifelong Learning Begins Fall Presentation Series
The Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) begins the fall series of weekly presentations each Tuesday running September 20 through November 15. The ALL is a learning in retirement network made possible with funding from the Minnesota Humanities Commission in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities and support from Bemidji State University and the BSU Foundation. Michael Hanson, Founder and past president of MN Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, will kick off the series on September 20 with “The Lewis and Clark Expedition – The legends and the Myths”. The presentations for the ALL are free and open to the public. “Back Safety and Treatment of Injured Workers”
Presenting will be Joe Kapaun, an occupational therapist with North Country Peak Performance of Bemidji, providing outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy and programs specializing in industrial rehabilitation and injury prevention. Joining Kapaun in his presentation will be Jeff Breyen and Joe Anderson, who are also Peak Performance associates.

Topics to be covered include a description of basic back anatomy; medical doctor and physical therapy treatment courses for various injuries; self-care of the back; and industrial rehabilitation tools and interventions that may be used to decrease the amount of time that injured workers spend away from work. A $20 fee will be charged to cover the price of materials and lunch. “A Profile of the Northern Goshawk in Northern Minnesota”
Presenting will be Al Williamson, a U.S. Forest Service forest ecologist who works out of the Chippewa National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Cass Lake. His presentation will address the following: the number and trend of known active goshawk nest sites in northern Minnesota; information on the habitat used and the foraging range of goshawks in Minnesota during breeding season; the primary prey species delivered to nestlings; conservation approaches used to maintain or improve nesting, post-fledgling and foraging habitat for breeding pairs of goshawks. “This is a species of high public interest and much of the information may be of interest or value to a wide variety of people interested in the conservation of this species,” said Williamson Join us at the Center for Research and Innovation on September 19, from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Starting a Business? Attend Entrepreneur 101!
Entrepreneur 101 is a “jam packed” 2-hour exploration of the basic steps to starting a business in the State of Minnesota and connections to resources to start the planning process. This interactive class covers idea feasibility, business plan basics, basic legal requirements, and personal decision-making (credit, lifestyles, aptitude, etc.) The next class is scheduled for Tuesday September 13th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Center for Research and Innovation.
