Academy of Lifelong Learning Final Fall Presentations
The Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) ends the fall series of weekly presentations this month.  November 1 is author Tom Chapin sharing his experiences of self-publishing 2 books.  Join us November 8 for a discussion with Leech Lake Tribal Court Judge, Margaret Treuer.  The fall series ends with a special presentation November 15 at Neilson Place, 1000 Anne Street NW.  The presentation will be the last of the Death and Dying Series entitled, “Spirituality:  Living Fully Until you Die”.  The ALL is a learning in retirement network made possible with funding from the Minnesota Humanities Commission in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities and support from Bemidji State University and the BSU Foundation. The presentations for the ALL are free and open to the public. Real Estate Sales Pre-Licensure Courses Continue
If you have completed Real Estate I, from Bemidji State University or other source, you are eligible to register for Real Estate II and III starting November 3!  Once the 90 hours of pre-licensure training is complete and the state exam is complete, you may apply for the Real Estate Salesperson License with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Courses will be delivered via ITV at Decker Hall Room 15 on the campus of Bemidji State University. Frequently asked questions and registration forms are available online.

Starting a Business? Attend Entrepreneur 101!
Entrepreneur 101 is a “jam packed” 2-hour exploration of the basic steps to starting a business in the State of Minnesota and connections to resources to start the planning process. This interactive class covers idea feasibility, business plan basics, basic legal requirements, and personal decision-making (credit, lifestyles, aptitude, etc.) The next class is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Center for Research and Innovation. What OSHA Regulations are Most Often Cited?
Join us as John M. O’Brien, a senior industrial hygienist with the Duluth office of Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration Workplace Consultation, presents “Minnesota OSHA’s Top 10 Cited Standards in 2004.”  The program will be held on November 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1pm at the CRI, an off-campus facility located at 3801 Bemidji Avenue North.  A $20 fee will be charged to cover the price of lunch and materials. “An Update on the Status of Wolves and Wolf Management in MN”
Presenting will be John Erb, a furbearer/wolf biologist with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Forest Wildlife Populations and Research Group, stationed in Grand Rapids. He plans to give an overview of Minnesota’s Wolf Management Plan and provide updates on the distribution and abundance of wolves in the state and the legal status of wolves in Minnesota.   Join us at the Center for Research and Innovation on November 21, from 3:00 to 4:00pm. This 4-hour workshop will give some tips and techniques on how to use your time more effectively and get a taste for Stephan Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Join Deanna Murphy at the Center for Research and Innovation on January 25, 8:30am-12:30pm.  Be sure to look for details in future editions of CRI News!
 
Real Estate Pre-licensure Courses offered in January
To become a licensed real estate person in Minnesota, you must complete 90 hours of pre-licensure training – Real Estate I, II and III. You must also successfully pass the Real Estate Licensure exam.  The 90 hours of classroom training will be repeated at Bemidji State University beginning in January 2006.  Exact schedule will be published in the December CRI News!
