Using Position Descriptions in the Appraisal Process
Two presenters from different organizations will share their views and experiences of how they use position descriptions to write appraisals and set goals for their staff members. Lock out / tag out Energy Control
Presenting will be Cheryl Urie, CSP-principal safety consultant with Workplace Safety Consultation of the Department of Labor and Industry, Duluth office. The information presented will be especially useful to safety managers, maintenance employees and production set-up employees. A copy of the presentation and example machine specific procedures will be provided to those attending. This session will be held at the CRI on Wednesday, November 15 from 11:30am-1pm. Timber Harvest in Recreation Areas: Working Together
Presenting will be Bob Milne, Beltrami County land commissioner, and Nancy Salminen, public service team leader with the U.S. Forest Service. The presentation will be of special interest to those utilizing public lands for outdoor recreation and will strive to provide a better understanding of the importance and necessity of managing public forests for the benefit of all. Forest Certification Workshop: Applications and Implications in Northern Minnesota
This full-day event will feature a variety of speakers and break-out sessions to discuss issues relating to forest certification. Fundamentals of Project Management
This three day highly interactive course provides a foundation to the Project Management framework and the management tools necessary to ensure success. Topics include project selection, life cycle, scope planning, estimating costs, execution and control, and risk management.
Working in teams, the students will develop a project charter and project management plan including Communications Plan, Risk Management Plan, Implementation Plan and Quality Plan.
Students are encouraged to use existing projects as opposed to instructor provided case studies. If you are a project manager, including grant managers, the hands on exercises will provide your project team with the tangible outcomes required to develop a comprehensive project plan. Course begins January 16, 2007. Course fee is $425, including lunch and all materials, with a discount offered to any company sending 4 or more people to this course. Computer Forensics Training is Coming Soon
The Center for Research and Innovation has partnered with Dr. Kari Wood, BSU Associate Professor of Business Administration and Certified Computer Examiner to offer a new non-credit course to learn more about computer forensics. Topics may include procedures of discovering and preserving evidence, types of computer and Internet crimes, and methods of searching and retrieving evidence using software tools. This program is in early development stages and is expected to be offered Summer 2007. If you are interested in learning more, contact the CRI.
