“…To Create Opportunities through Innovation.”

Interim Director of Custom College Programs at Northwest Technical College

Mr. Vern Treat, former Provost at Northwest Technical College, has been appointed Interim Director of Custom College Programs at Northwest Technical College.

This move supports NTC’s continued commitment to serving the businesses and industries in the region with “customized” training opportunities. To further strengthen the service to customers, customized training and educational opportunities will be provided through an integrated Custom College model that leverages the capacities of Northwest Technical College, its Center for Extended Learning and Bemidji State University’s Center for Research and Innovation.

Leaders at Northwest Technical College and Bemidji State University recognize that educational services to business and industry partners can be strengthened through collaboration and by jointly offering new programs to the community. As a result, NTC and BSU’s Center for Research and Innovation are integrating outreach opportunities into a Custom College model. “Together, we will provide a variety of educational opportunities: contracted training for business and industries, public offerings of trainings and courses for recertification and skills enhancement including distance (online) education; corporate college and weekend college; articulation arrangements with high schools and colleges and build new collaborative offerings,” said Provost Charles Giammona. “This model will enable Northwest Technical College and Bemidji State University to better maximize our outreach potential and expand the kinds of learning opportunities needed in the communities we serve.”
